We are on the home stretch and I think I can speak for everyone that not just one, but five different emotions can not be able to describe how we feel. As for myself, at the moment I am in packing anxiety. How do I fit it all? Is this shirt good for hiking Machu Picchu? How much room should I leave for Christmas gifts? Necesito practicar mi español. Ay Dios Mio, or should I say Ay Pachamama? For me this moment has been building up since last June when we started planning, therefore if anything is to not go according to plan that 5 months of trying to prepare will feel wasted. Everyone has probably seen how much I have been preparing, attempting to examine every bit of Peruvian culture, maybe it is just the history major in me, but I have been trying to read as much as possible. I can’t wait to learn as much as possible from the people we will be working with, I know I will learn ten times more from them than any book or website I have flown through.
It is cheesy, but I find my relaxation and answers through music, since lyrics often say the simplest facts of life that we always forget and only remember when we are yelling those lyrics off key in our room folding laundry. That is why I entitled this blog with a quote from a real country artist Ryan Bingham (and he is just so dreamy, how could not love him?) Things are going to change and fly by with out time for reaction and Sinjin and I have one mission, to make the ride as fun as possible.
So we are leaving tonight from the U of O at 10PM driving all through the night to SEA-TAC, arriving at 3AM then catching the 6AM flight to Dallas, then to Miami, then to LIMA! Then more flying and traveling to finally reach Urubamba for some cultural activities. More updates are soon to come on this blog. I expect the next blog will be a bit more groggy and full of exhaustion, so stay tuned!
